What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a treatment modality that is focused on alleviating distresses associated with traumatic memories by accessing, reprocessing the memory and bringing the memory to an adaptive resolution. Successful EMDR treatment can help clients rid themselves of affective distress, negative beliefs and physiological arousal. Taking advantage of the fact that the brain’s information processing system naturally moves towards mental health. Using detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training, clinicians are able to help clients to activate their natural healing processes.
